No historically interest rates were 4/5 percent as they are now.PhiloBeddo » 24 Jul 2025, 12:35 pm » wrote: ↑ Is the fed, Jerome Powel just a Trump hater and punishing the American people?
Borrowing rates not investment rates. The cost of money should be 1 or 2 percent, not 4TwoIfByTea » 25 Jul 2025, 9:28 pm » wrote: ↑ No historically interest rates were 4/5 percent as they are now.
Back in the 1980s interest was raised double digits to snuff out the runaway inflation of the 1970s causing the Farm Crisis and the recession of 1981/1982 eventually stabilizing and going down back to 5/6 percent by end of decade.
Anyways the economy is used 4/5 points again and lowering would cause more inflation.
Remember this last one still came in at 2.7 percent well above 2 percent target rate
If Powell would drop the rates 2% for 6 months... Trump would re-finance 10 Trillion $$$ of debt, and save America at 100's of Billions of $$$ in interest costs... I guess Powell doesn't see that? ...OR, doesn't WANT to see that !TwoIfByTea » 25 Jul 2025, 9:28 pm » wrote: ↑ No historically interest rates were 4/5 percent as they are now.

Do you understand how planned obsolescence works 24/7? I discovered its ugly means by any methods created in civilization of people wishing life wasn't self evident time living genetically eternally separated adapting to the moment as life so far now.Two If By Tea » 25 Jul 2025, 9:28 pm » wrote: ↑ No historically interest rates were 4/5 percent as they are now.

All lower interest rates do is feed speculation in markets and drive inflation higher.JohnnyYou » 27 Jul 2025, 2:25 am » wrote: ↑ Your stupidity is not cherished.
But, The Federal Reserve was designed by the rich for the rich.
I too want lower interest rates so people can borrow money to build systems. Our foreign customers may not buy from us with our quotes jacked up by tariffs. We are going to lose all our global customers. Canada is a very important one for our small town.

Money was cheap and easy for too long and now the economy is addicted.
Unfortunately easy liquidity serves more to drive speculation in markets and malinvestment than productive enterprise
