In the case of the money, I do not find it alarming at all. When we were kids, the adults TAUGHT us about coinage. We handled it, looked at it, had it explained to us - marveled that a nickel was worth less than a dime. We puzzled over that fact, wondering why the dime, alone among coins, was smaller than coins that were of lesser value, and we shrugged and learned to just accept it. And we traded the younger kids nickels for dimes, because they didn't know better yet.

My neighbor kid would always choose a nickel over a dime when an adult offered, because it made them keep offering. They thought he didn't know better and they found it charming. He grew up and sold used cars - true story. Of all things, his name was Beasely. Great name for a used car guy. 

The kid in the vid had none of those experiences. Her parents - the Schneiders - did everything with plastic. And they taught her everything there is to know about plastic. She could look at your card when you paid and know what your interest rate likely was. If you told her you carried a balance last month of $800.00, without taking a single beat she could tell you that your rate was 29.9% on that card and your monthly interest on that balance was twenty dollars. 

But ever since we stopped making the coins with precious metal, the Schneiders lost interest in them, because they could not shave a small bit off the edge of every coin they got their filthy jewish hands on until they had a pile of .999 fine silver dust for free.
