If Putin said that, it means he had no problem with Ukraine joining a military alliance that Russia was a member of - even though it violates their Constitution. Putin was lobbying for Russian membership. And it was the west's foolishness that it did not welcome Russia with open arms.
Obviously, as a diplomat, Putin is not going to breathe fire about Ukraine joining nato while at the same time trying to join, himself. But by Putin's famous 2007 Muich Speech, he was fully disabused of the fantasy that the west wanted to peacefully coexist, and was absolutely opposed to Coupkraine violating its Constitution and the "Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation, and Partnership" that it had with Russia. That treaty is what formalized Ukraine's borders - and voiding that voided those, from the Russian perspective.
At this point, it matters little. Whatever abortion is left of Coupkraine is going to be smaller, even poorer, and even more corrupt that the one the US and collective west duped into this suicidal stupidity.

The winds of war are less **** up than the winds of diplomacy much of the time.
Of course that's the main reason I pointed out how old that quote is: 20+ years.
The evolution of the situation is completely lost on people many times.
btw
I also will not forget Putin was, probably still is, a KGB man.
Spooks never change.

He is just what Russia needed - a man made for the times.
He was an administrator in East Germany - not a spy. Spies are undercover. Putin was a boss.

If America were not run by someone beholden to the people on the Epstein list, and if America were not employing terror groups to rob other countries of their sovereignty, and if America were not elevating pedophilia and interfering with citizens' rights to raise their children in a normal and mentally healthy environment, and if America were not violating its own treaties by imprisoning women with sex-predator men, I would not be looking at Putin as the best hope for humanity - only as the best hope for Russians.DeezerShoove » 11 Aug 2025, 8:19 pm » wrote: ↑ Sometimes I wonder...
If America was "doing the right thing" how much real love would be there?
I don't want some **** up **** here to cloud your judgement of the world in general.
My lack of trust prevents me from liking some people and things.
The motives can be so easily disguised. Like Chinese.
So be careful, young man. Don't let a pretty man steal your heart.

You need to be watching Candace Owens.
Candace is based as a mother ****.
I haven't heard her in a while. Did she say anything about the Hamas missile mini carpet bombing on Israel that started this whole thing? (watch cp explode now)Cannonpointer » 11 Aug 2025, 9:57 pm » wrote: ↑ Candace is based as a mother ****.
She holds the line - every time. Her principles do not bend.
And she is about as anti-nutsinyouboo as anyone can be. She calls genocide genocide - no apologies, and no bending to the screeches of "anti-semite." She is a Christian - and thus, she opposes the slaughter of innocents. She doesn't accept "but 10-7" or any other **** excuses. "Oh, see, dey be habin tunnels undadat horse spittle" doesn't fly with her - she has a better **** detector than that.
She's a Christian, and she opposes the indiscriminate slaughter of innocents. She opposes genocide.
It's not my job to translate her to you.roadkill » 11 Aug 2025, 10:30 pm » wrote: ↑ I haven't heard her in a while. Did she say anything about the Hamas missile mini carpet bombing on Israel that started this whole thing? (watch cp explode now)
