Agreed. This is dumb. Do they think that the baseball could be fake and have a grenade wrapped inside? It's a little league baseball team. This is a honor for these kids. Something that they will remember for the rest of their life...and politics rips it from them.

Yes, they are kids, but they are also propaganda tools for the Venezuelan government and there is no reason why the USA should host the nation that seeks to use that propaganda against the USA. Though we have some minimal degree of foreign relations with Venezuela, the US does not recognize the Maduro government as the legitimate authority in Venezuela. We do not have any sort of détente with Venezuela, so hosting some team or troupe to enhance diplomatic relations, as we did during the Cold War with the USSR is not part of our foreign policy. Whether it was hosting athletes, performing artists, or even chess players during the Cold War, we were hosts with a strategic purpose in mind. There is no strategic purpose to hosting the baseball players. So, the denial of visas is the right thing to do.

The Venezuelan gov't has not been cooperative in taking back their trash. if i dumped my trash on my neighbor's lawn, then refused to take it back, i wouldn't expect my kids to be allowed to go over there and play.
