My 19 year old nephew landed a job at a large solar plant being built outside Phoenix. He is grossing over $7k a week including living expenses. 

My brother has some good connections with Electrical Contractors.

Does he glow and power the panels or something? Sounds like a Hunter Biden deal in Ukraine to me.

I know several young solar installers..  It's a cut throat business. I imagine your nephew is doing more than using hand tools at that pay scale.

You are right about the federal funding. We had a fairly decent chance of selling 20 acres to Enel and then installing 140 acres of solar panels on the rest of the property. Dead project currently. Maybe in the future.

The job is pretty much grunt work for apprentice electricians. Digging ditches and pulling wire. Whatever the prevailing wages are to work during the summer in Arizona and plenty of overtime. This is a subcontractor for the solar farm. (Also a long time family friend) They do work all around the states, Alaska may be the next stop.

He is getting his feet wet and seeing if this is what he really wants to do and making good money. His dad, my half brother, has gotten around in the industry. He spent several years working on oil platforms and made some really good connections. He is currently a project manager for a big firm in Denver. He's a little annoyed his son is making more money !

I hope he can hang, it's a opportunity of a lifetime.

You said 7,000 a week in the post. Are you sure that's not 700$ a week?  350K a year seems a huge investment into every grunt on a utlity job.  Is it for Mormons?  I guess they are rich and can afford 400$ a killowatt hour.  35K a year sounds more like apprentice electrician wages and about what a high school graduate can scrape by on this day and age Much less and they need some help.
