Fox News surged to record heights in the first quarter of 2025, crushing its industry rivals and notching its highest-ever total day ratings and a record share of the cable news audience.
While Fox averaged some 1.92 million total day viewers, rivals CNN and MSNBC were down to 428,000 and 593,000 total day average viewers for the quarter, respectively. Fox, therefore, accounted for 65% of the total day cable news audience in the U.S. and 66% of the total prime time viewership. Among Fox’s ongoing success stories is The Five, which broke yet another record for being the top-rated show on cable news – despite airing outside of prime time.
The Five averaged a booming 4.6 million viewers for the quarter, with 499,000 demo viewers, making it the most-watched show on cable news for the 14th straight quarter, as well as one of the most-watched shows on cable.

Perusing the final data for his first year on the job, it appears liberal detractors officially have a new bogeyman to worry about. Since the launch of Jesse Watters Primetime in July last year, his audience has grown 96 percent and he has officially surpassed the numbers typically posted by O'Reilly while narrowing the gap with Carlson. In the most important demographic, ages 25-54, the Nielsen ratings for Watters surged 233 percent when comparing July 2023 to the same month in 2024. And comparing Jesse Watters Primetime to the shows on MSNBC and CNN in the 8 p.m. slot is hardly worth the effort anymore, given he regularly beats them both, combined.

The network remained the most-watched network in all of cable during the month, and led total day and primetime viewers.
The Five took home the number one spot in all of cable news. The program featured an average of 3.3 million viewers during the month.
Nipping at that show’s heels was Jesse Watters Primetime. Airing in the 8 PM timeslot, the show earned an average audience of 3 million.
