Some may be thinking that the current President [TRUMP'S FIRST TERM] had a pandemic to deal with that was a large cause of big deficit, and it shouldn't be counted against him. It's certainly true that the unplanned stimulus packages contributed a large amount to his deficit. Although, I happen to think a President's defining crisis and the impact of how he handled it shouldn't be erased from the record when judging his efficacy. (Or else we would certainly have to also credit Obama for taking office in the middle of the bank meltdown and financial crisis, for example).
But for the sake of context, if you eliminate 2020 from the record and use the planned budget from last year in its place, Trump would have run a 4.2% deficit for his first term. That would actually leave him in the same rank on this chart and tied with Reagan's first term.
It wasn't just Covid you numbnutZ...Covid just put DONNIE'S spending spree into overdrive. But for the sake of context, if you eliminate 2020 from the [TRUMP'S FISCAL/SPENDING] record and use the planned budget from last year in its place, Trump would have run a 4.2% deficit for his first term.
That would actually leave him in the same rank on this chart and tied with Reagan's first term.

AND the last time I looked, CONGRESS WAS CONTROLLED BY DHIMOCRAPS in 2008 and also 2020. THEY passed all that SPENDING you want to blame Trump and Bush for!! And NEITHER OF THEM had a single vote to cast to pass those bills.
Did YOU say a **** WORD about DHIMOCRAPS SPENDING ALL THAT MONEY???

Maybe you missed the fact the Orange Jewlius SIGNED the Covid spending bills?![]()
And that the majority of Republicans (MAGAT approved) voted in FAVOR?
You stupid insect…
How about the fact the Orange Dotard would have run an average of 4.2% BUDGET DEFICIT TO GDP RATIO (putting him among the highest 4 year term averages in the last 50 years) even if you cross out all 2020 Covid related appropriations?
****.
