Turning off SNAP/EBT benefits for one month would save the U.S. approximately $8.3 billion. That estimate is based on the most recent fiscal data: in FY 2024, the federal government spent $99.8 billion on SNAP benefits, which averages to about $8.3 billion per month

I am well aware of how much big business will lose if they eliminate these benefits. But Trump pushed for this issue during the campaign. SNAP/EBT are not supposed to be a generational lifestyle. It was designed as a stop gap for those who lose employment, if you are able-bodied, you should be working. I just hope this will spare the elderly and disabled. (from what I gathered, it won't)Cannonpointer » 20 Oct 2025, 8:55 pm » wrote: ↑ But it would cost big ag that same amount.
