Exactly. I won't tell anyone here my education level either. It just isn't important. Veghead is a narcissist, so of course he has boast about his education. It's how he validates himself. Without trying to seem merely contradictory, formal education is crucial at the beginning of a career.
It becomes more and more OTJ, basic experience, continuing to be teachable that sets one apart.
Of course it depends on the discipline how this factors in.
