That’s the highest level since 1943, and a sharp jump from the 1.5% average applied just three years ago.
While the Trump administration has repeatedly denied that tariffs are taxes, the Tax Foundation asserted its tariffs “are the largest US tax increase as a percent of GDP (0.55 percent for 2025) since 1993, surpassing the tax increases enacted under President Barack Obama and President George H.W. Bush.”

Everything you wrote above,,, is a IDIOTIC LIE ! Tariffs are a way to make the WORLD pay a fair share of America's world wide bills to keep the WORLD safe and free, a NOMINAL 10% of products they sell in America, for the RIGHT to access and benefit from the LARGEST FREE MARKET in the world !
PROCESS that for a second... America's free market comprises 33% of ALL the business that goes on in the WORLD... and Tariffs are a way for America to MONETIZE that... NO LONGER is that "FREE"... Especially since MOST of the rest of the world has bee SCREWING America by NOT permitting free use of THEIR markets...
Liberal Democrats don't like that. because THEY cant TAX it... so it dilutes their control of America's markets, and America in general... ONE by ONE...
