///President Trump has made it clear to Indiana leaders: if the Indiana Senate fails to pass the map, all federal funding will be stripped from the state. Roads will not be paved. Guard bases will close. Major projects will stop. These are the stakes and every NO vote will be to blame./////

////////////////////////////////In a powerful reproach to President Donald Trump, the Indiana Senate voted, by a wide margin, against a mid-decade redistricting that would have gerrymandered the state’s congressional maps. At least 11 GOP lawmakers had received death threats ahead of the vote — a sign of the dangerous extremism that Trump’s backers brought to the battle. The vote came down to the wire. During Thursday’s debate, Sen. Greg Goode (R) indicated he would vote no by saying he was listening to his constituents, becoming the 15th Republican opposed to the bill. But none of the other remaining swing votes indicated how they’d vote before the final tally. But in the end, the vote wasn’t even close: 31-19, with 21 Republicans joining all 10 Democrats in opposition. In fact, more GOP Hoosiers voted against the measure than for it.

--------------------------------]In rejecting yesterday a redistricting plan backed by President Donald Trump, Indiana’s Republican-controlled senate did not merely deny Republicans two new U.S. House seats in next year’s midterm elections. They also engaged in a mass revolt against the president. The stakes of their defiance reach far beyond the midterms. This vote was possibly the most significant blow yet against the authoritarian ambitions that have defined Trump’s second term. The significance of Indiana’s noncompliance lies not in the specifics of what was refused—attempts to gerrymander electoral maps are hardly unprecedented, even though a mid-decade battle violates norms—but in the act of refusal itself. Trump’s authoritarian project relies on the cultlike hold he has over his party. Republicans have come to understand that the cost of defying Trump is the death of their political career. Trump has proved time and again that he will go to any lengths to destroy his intra-party critics, even if doing so harms the party.     https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/ ... ms/685242/

  • Lawmaker Resistance: Many Indiana GOP state senators resisted the pressure, arguing that redistricting should only occur once per decade after the census   and that the federal government should not interfere in state affairs.
  • Threats and Intimidation: Republican lawmakers who opposed the plan faced a barrage of intimidation tactics. These included:
    • Bomb threats: At least one senator reported a bomb threat at his business, while another's home was targeted with a hoax message claiming a pipe bomb.
    • Swatting: At least a dozen politicians were victims of "swatting" attacks, where false emergency reports are made to draw law enforcement to their homes.
    • Other pressure: Lawmakers also received threatening emails, negative calls to constituents, unsolicited pizza deliveries, and threats of primary challenges from Trump himself.
  • Outcome: Despite the intense pressure and threats, the Indiana Senate voted down the proposed map on December 11, 2025, in a rare defeat for the former president.
The incidents in Indiana have been described as a new level of political vitriol and intimidation, sparking a national conversation about political pressure and election integrity.

That ignorant fool doesn't realize that Democrats are masters of gerrymandering.....there are 9 states, with at least 40% Republican voters, that have no representation in Congress due to Democrat manipulation of voting districts.
