The lack of affordable housing is a critical pit fall in our economy. Planning and Zoning builds gigantic houses in hopes for tax revenue that no one can afford. Locally we are booming with transplants retiring from the Wash/Balt Corridor and we are getting an influx. I can build houses and there is work. There are always 2 or 3 project management positions listed.
I saw little crackerbox ranchers going up in town last week "Starting at the Low 300's" . I look at some of the local houses and ask "Who can afford that?" Well out of my reach.
Wala Kamala campaigned on the issue of housing. Jerome Powell indicated it is a crisis affecting our GDP recently. If workers can't afford to live where the jobs are then the cycle feeds itself into oblivion.
