There was a story contrasting  the Jewlery Store owner who has had his best year ever with sales averaging above 200K$ Each with a jamaican immigrant who was on the verge of cooking the neighbors dog..  I think it was a Massachusetts town.

Needed a light for a smoke coming home from town Christmas Day and the small food stop shop was open, the cashier gal I talk with all year long was there. She said the owner was going to close at noon but he asked her to do the afternoon.  She said it was pretty sad.. All the lonely people she knows in town were calling to see if the deli was open to get some Christmas nourishment, it wasn't. She said there is one particlarly beligerent drinker known in town who came in. His wife had just passed a week ago and it was his first Geriatric Solo Christmas. She made him a sandwich and provided him some comfort. But man, the Joy is on short supply here.

Blessed are those in Peace, but I doubt shiny trinkets really have any value. Ya can'y buy a thrill and everyone ain't talking 'bout love.
