Don't pick on the loon. Where I grew up I loved hearing them. Very specialized bird.
As kids, we would "chase" them in a row boat once in a while on this small lake (about a mile wide).
They let you get to 10 yards then disappear underwater.
We'd wait 20 seconds and they'd pop back up 40 yards away.
Sometimes go right under the boat. Very cool.

ps Adult humans suck.

I have also seen the loons here on the Chesepeake Bay Waters. They are a clue to fishermen of where to troll for Rockasaurus.. They are amazing.

I don't wanna grow up, I am a Toy's R Us Kid.  But Sarah Goods Shooting might as well have been a Venezuelan Fishing  Boat. It's straight up murder.
