Interesting. I didn't know that. Also, I don't know the actual details, but there is a pretty solid theory, in my opinion, that explains the emaciation. They weren't deliberately starved. The Nazi's needed them for hard labor. Laying tracks, digging bunkers, etc...They had to be healthy. However, in 1943 a couple of their train tracks, that carried supplies, were bombed by the allies. So food and aid couldn't reach them. That is why they were emaciated.
