The helicopter was over the grass.  The plane was over the runway and veered right.

Yes the helicopter was hovering and generating lift. This results in air being sucked in from the top and forced out the bottom into the ground creating a loop.  The exact same crash happened years ago and is part of training now.  The loop lifts the far wing of the plane.
