I am all for making slavery illegal. Should we try again? Assume, hypothetically, that a law comes about allowing white men to enslave blacks again. However, as time goes on, not once has a white man enslaved a black man. Decades go by, and still no incident of it happening. Are you in favor of this law, though nothing has happened? The number of incidents is irrelevant. The fact remains, under this hypothetical law, that blacks would live in a society knowing that their freedom could be taken away in an instant. They would live under that fear.
Likewise, the fact that there has never been an incident of this happening is 100% irrelevant. Women now live in a society knowing that their privacy has no value.
