Cerro Summit, where US 50 crosses is slightly less than 8000 feet.
Some sort of sustainable energy (solar, wind, geothermal) would be needed to pump water across the Rockies.
There is also the fact that the Mississippi is a vital transportation system. Removing a lot of water would surely affect river navigation.
I do not think the technology exists to do this at this time. But I am not an engineer.
