Because some state legislatures passed a law claiming that killing a pregnant woman counts double.
Everybody knows this. The mystery is why silly people like you quote this as though God has descended from Heaven and proclaimed, "Killing a pregnant woman counts DOUBLE."
Which has never happened.
The thing is that people mostly do not have sex to produce offspring. They have sex because it is recreational and emotionally satisfying. Although is almost always results in pregnancy for some species, it does not in the case of human beings.
Not all contraceptives are 100% effective, and for one reason or another, the urge to have sex is greater than the urge to use a condom.
Some people get drunk or high and have sex and the woman gets pregnant, even though she does not want to.
Perhaps you should have paid better attention in Sex Ed class.
