Neo is dead wrong. The US needs allies in its dealings with China, and the largest and best ally is the EU. The EU is strongest ally and will be stronger still when Ukraine is a member of the EU and NATO.
Putin clearly does not want a westernized and modern Ukraine on its borders, with Ukrainians radio and TV broadcasting a different presentation of the news that would be accessible and intelligible to Russians, who presently are not given the facts about what is really going on.
