"What mechanically happens is that the unemployment rate has fallen a little bit and people will think, 'Oh, that's a good thing,'" said Elise Gould, senior economist at the Economic Policy Institute. The unemployment rate fell slightly from 4.3% in May to 4.2% in June, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) said. Unemployment remains low by historical standards.
