Here's more information if you're interested. I'm a veteran of 4 years in the United States Navy. I started out as a lowly bosuns mate on this one.
no one advantage of being a lowly bosons mate is you get to actually steer the ship which is quite an experience.
Later I went to sonar School and was a sonar technician on this one.
I have never worked for the government in any other capacity.
