It should go right along with firearms being licensed like a driver's license. Anyone can get one if you demonstrate proficiency.
I would hope the emphasis would be on safety. Guns in safes with trigger locks sounds good to me.
Mention of the likelihood increasing that one is going to commit suicide goes along with gun ownership might be mentioned as well. mentally incompetent or those contemplating suicide because they're depressed should not have access to firearms in my opinion.
I also like red flag laws. Someone who owns firearms and is uttering threats that are believable should be relieved of his firearms.
I do not want to take your guns.
I understand that rural people have special needs. My uncle ran a cattle operation outside Monroe Washington and he kept a rifle and a shotgun all the time. Home protection and vermin control.
Take it all around I think gun education might be a good idea. As it is we're turning people loose with guns with no training or safety indoctrination at all.
