We homeschooled our children though we live in a school district that was listed among top 10 in the USA. We also live in a college town. Her response to the observation parents needed to be more involved was always the same.
How involved with a plumber do those same parents need to be, other than opening the door?.
School district offered the homeschoolers any class or classes no matter what, they had to be registered at same time as other students and had to attend whatever class/classes. Parents were requested to attend parent teacher conferences... homeschoolers were praised highly.
HOWEVER we were advised by some teachers that the parents that should show up usually did not.
The university offered a class in Natural History for the homeschoolers. What a deal for all concerned.
