That was your first response. It was not the end of tour. In was removed in 83 he MAY have been there a year. And you are at that point agreeing he was relieved. Then he wasn't. Then you said he wasn't in command.

The only times McRaven was "relieved of command" were at the ends of his tours of duty as a commanding officer by his designated successor.
At ST6, he was relieved of his squad leader "duties", which is not a commanding officer position. He was transferred out of the soon-to-be-convict's ST6 to ST4 where he flourished.
