I could give a **** what Madison or Hamilton THOUGHT about democracy. The fact is, small "d" democracy is defined as government by the people; a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system. And the specific form that the people chose was a Republic. We are a representative democracy and we, the people have democratically chosen to govern ourselves in a Republic format...that was our choice and we made it in a truly democratic fashion... using a free and fair election system like all functioning democracies use... like, say, Great Britain, which is both a parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy. You know that is a fact just as well as you know you got your *** kicked about fire departments and police departments and public works departments and health care systems all being a part of a thriving capitalist economy and not a socialist one.
