How many people own shirts made and sold in their home towns?
I suggest that nearly everyone purchases shirts made very far away from where they live.
I tried really hard to thing of a place in the US where shirts are made, and all I could think of was Pendletown, Oregon. There are several companies in Honolulu that at l;east assemble shirts there.
I am sure there are others. But most shirts sold in the US are made outside the US.
so workers are NOT incentivized to produce for a local market? Even though it would reduce emissions from greenhouse gasses?
