I help truly needy people (to the best of my knowledge).
That is entirely my sphere of "control".
I know a little bit about "enablers" as well.
That is almost never a good situation (the type to which I'm referring at least).
I choose to avoid being a part of that mess.
Being cheerful about the pathetic situation a person is in is a paradox.
I understand how you mean it. Don't get me wrong.
But there is an element of merely doing it to make yourself feel good about yourself.
Because I really detest that enabling part so much, I couldn't "feel good" about it.
I think I am more pragmatic, no moral crusader. I do it for the feel good aspect of it, and just to see someone smile.
Since I take pains to protect my anonymity here, I will admit something else.. there is a guy who works for me (contractor) that does methamphetamines. He is the most energetic and dedicated guy I have, he shows up every day to work cuz he can’t wait to get paid to go buy meth.
You think I should quit “enabling” him? So he can be a lazy slug who calls off work like the others? Hell no, I let him do meth at lunch and don’t give a ****. It makes him a human dynamo on the job.
