But look...such workers would probably be replaced and directly moved to the relevant government work.
the current system sucks because since the customer is not paying the bill, hospitals can basically charge whatever they want and be as wasteful as they want.
in a capitalist system, insurance simply multiplies the demand curve thereby raising the price point...often to absurd levels.
with state control over the industry, however, it would at least be theoretically possible for the state to set prices that are reasonable.
The medical industry in the U.S. is similar to the criminal justice system here... both filled with busy bodies doing useless jobs, justifying their ridiculous industries because they couldn't get far on their dubious talents otherwise.
In the wake of total automation, there simply is no use for humans, everything is mass produced quickly and cheaply. But our chimp brains can't wrap around a post scarcity world, so we make up stupid **** for people to do and call them "jobs" while draining the taxpayer, and every few years have a corporate bailout to make sure the excess capitol and commodities stays idle, wasted, sitting in warehouses silently rusting, hoarded by the top 000.1%.
