Conservatives, more than anyone, bought this notion that individualism is so awesome, it rocks so much, that there can be no downside. But there is. Individualism is simply not compatible with a healthy society. It promotes competition over cooperation to the point that there is zero cooperation.. and that leads to chaos.
We see the results of that today in the incredible crime spike, senseless crimes, random shootings that are not borne of organized thought, or greed, but come from a breakdown of the most simple elements of civility; interdependence, collectivism, community.
the culmination of 50 years of worshipping only two virtues at the exclusion of all others .. materialism and individualism. Rising chaos, mental health and addiction crisis, road rage, exploding gun violence.
This is happening in ALL MAJOR US CITIES
