There was a scene were Yoda was actually laughing in glee because the last of the Jedi library was being destroyed in flame.
And about the male/female thing...I think it is more complex than merely men do stuff. It is the masculine energy on a culture. I would refer people to jungian psychology. It is the individuation of a culture which stems from its masculine energy ...what makes it unique but also separate from other cultures. Jung would say that in fact it could be possible, albiet rare, for a biological female to be part of that process....as all women do have an Anima.
