if I had to play devils advocate, I would say GB is expressing the right for the strong to devour the weak. That is a natural law of the animal kingdom. The entire purpose of this serious thread - a thread which Roadkill made PG deliberately and fashioned his OP to signal his interest in hearing the pros and cons - is to investigate the topic.
Not to vote on it. Not to say whether we like it. But to argue the benefits of it, and discuss the possible downsides. I have that same interest, myself. I think it would be quite a lovely thing to investigate the topic further, as I've only briefly looked into it, myself.
I'm well aware that most on this board believe I am contentious for contentiousness' sake. But in truth, I very much like getting to the nature of things. In evidence of this, I submit the fact that I rather often get to the nature of things. Is anyone else on this board generating aphorisms from these discussions and then placing those aphorisms in his siggy as a sort of trophy? Being put to thought is my entire motivation on this board.
So I ask again: If GB has taken some issue with some aspect of LVT, what was the issue and what was the aspect (rhetorical)?
As best I can tell, he's merely accused me of communism - without making any case that Fidel favored LVT or that LVT might lead us to Fidel. It's clear he has SOME NOTION that people are born with some sacred right to make passive income by keeping valuable real estate from benefitting anyone. But he has made no case whatsoever to defend that rather perverse idea.
I'm just saying: Ya wanna take issue, take issue. But I refuse to conflate grousing with taking issue, just to get along. I get along with my DOG. The rest of you *** wouldn't remove peanut butter from my crotch in just the right way, so why should I play nice?

1. What would be the result in heaven itself if those who get there first instituted private property in the surface of heaven, and parceled it out in absolute ownership among themselves, as we parcel out the surface of the earth?
2. Since we cannot conceive of a heaven in which the equal rights of God's children to their Father's bounty is denied, as we now deny them on this earth, what is the duty enjoined on Christians by the daily prayer: "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth, as it is in heaven?"
