Little dogs can pal with big dogs and we see the relationships through a "human" lens.
But they do get along for the most part. Color, age, sex, etc aren't specifically deal breakers.
Humans as compared to animals are reasoning, judgmental, self-aware entities.
Much more complex beings and nuances matter that do not in the animal world (as far as we know).
We are resentful, compare ourselves, strive to be ahead of our neighbor, covet, hold grudges, etc.
We don't really live in the moment like animals. Maybe as toddlers we did...
Ego has a lot to do with the differences. Dogs (animals et al) have egos of a sort, I guess...
Humans? Hell, yes.
dogs are “socialized” by their human masters.. and even that is iffy, I see little dogs go crazy barking and charging at big dogs. A chihuahua always intimidates a huge Rottweiler. There is a weird Rock Paper Scissors game with dogs and cats

but to your point, it’s utterly unnatural for different dog breeds in the wild to be friendly. If you see a wolf pack, it’s not going to have token hyena tagging along. If you see a pack of wild hyenas, there won’t be a minority of dingos there.
by bringing up dogs, you have reinforced the point of the OP.. breeds only socialize with their own breed, no exceptions.
