white hunters just never hunt hippos cause of geographic distance. But if they did they would use a gun that can drop it easy.

my stepfather hunts exotic big game in Africa regularly. Never killed a hippo. I guess there isn't status in that. But all sorts of other stuff.
firearms in the modern age could easily drop a hippo. However, in early civilization before the advent of firearms, tribes learned to rely on domesticated cattle because they were much easier to slaughter than hippos.
