As long as American taxpayer money is spent outside of America, that’s the MOST important thing. Israel, a Egypt, Yemen, Ukraine.. any where really, just don’t spend it in US. That would be like giving taxpayers their own money back, that’s crazyXavier_Onassis » 01 Aug 2022, 7:46 am » wrote: ↑ I don't think that the money we send to Israel makes the region stable. I doubt that cutting it off would make it more unstable.
What would make a difference is the vast amount of aid that the US sends to Egypt. Egypt is about the only country that could be almost totally destroyed by one bomb.
Take out the Aswan Dam, and most of the rest of Egypt would be drowned.
Without the US Aid, Egypt would be unable to subsidize bread to its people, most of whom are very poor. That would cause riots and serious military repression and perhaps a takeover of the government by military that could launch a campaign against Israel.
By the way, that is why Ukrainian independence is so important. If Russia controls both Ukrainian and Russian grain, it could manipulate the Middle East as it seems to be doing with its gas.
The US aid to Israel is useful to both parties, as it affects the voting of a large number of American Jews, for whom Israel is the most important issue. I don't see where either party will ever cut off aid to Israel.
No matter how much you bitch about it.
