Regarding your post, as to #1, anyone can claim anything; as to #3, seeking help is what sane people do, as to #2 and #4,
moral wrong is an inherited foundation of American criminal law, consciousness of wrong is part of that foundation, and legal insanity means that understanding is missing. These are things any real conservative would know and defend.
Insanity can never be a reason for leniency !
If anything . . . a reason for capital punishment !
There is no reason to assume that an insane person will not commit the same crime . . . or a worse one . . . in the future !
