Judge rejects Michael Flynn's claims of a government conspiracy to frame him
WASHINGTON — A federal judge rejected claims by former national security adviser Michael Flynn that government prosecutors forced him to plead guilty to crimes he did not commit and then hid evidence that would've exonerated him.
In his ruling, Sullivan said "it is undisputed" that Flynn made false statements to the FBI, as well as to Vice President Mike Pence and senior White House officials, "who, in turn, repeated Mr. Flynn's false statements to the American people on national television."
Sullivan rejected Flynn's claim that the FBI conducted an ambush interview in order to trap him into making false statements.
"The record proves otherwise," Sullivan wrote. "The sworn statements of Mr. Flynn and his former counsel belie his new claims of innocence and his new assertion that he was pressured into pleading guilty to making materially false statements to the FBI."
The documents Flynn seeks
do not exist, are not in prosecutors' hands, or are unrelated to the crime he pleaded guilty to committing, the judge wrote. And some of the documents he's seeking have already been provided to him, Sullivan wrote
