My guess is that your training was never very rigorous or intense, and I am not just being presumptuous. I say this because if you had actually spared with a lot of people, then you would come to know that you can never judge a person's ability to fight just by looking at them or conversing with them. You will know their strengths and weaknesses only by fighting them - there is no substitute. There is no guessing.
