In fact, I had my 10 year old nephew shooting it over Thanksgiving. He handled it just fine. Because of the way its made, the muzzle does not tend to rise much. The bolt carrier and bolt are stouter than an AR-10, so it absorbs more of the recoil. My K&M is by far one of the easiest 308's I've shot.
10 years old is a good age.
