Giuliani once insisted that Trump fired James Comey because the former FBI director wouldn’t make a public statement that Trump wasn’t a target of an investigation. Even Trump thought it would be bad if it got out that he was pressing Comey for such a statement. Something really bad happened in Giuliani's head over the years.
