I'm not arguing for or against the handout - just pointing out that giving someone a break on their payment schedule is easier and different than initiating systemic reforms that threaten the vested interests of the money boys in academia.
We should cease - all of us - to argue one way or the other about the tail end of this matter, and resolve to go upstream together in a single boat named Discovery, to find the root of the problem. THEN we can argue about solutions: AFTER we have identified the problem.
