Then it was just a riot in which the United States Capitol was stormed, Capitol police were beaten and assaulted, property was destroyed, zip ties were brought, pipe bombs and incendiary devices were planted, personal items were stolen, weapons were stored nearby, lawmakers cowered in fear for their lives, and throngs of rioters roamed the halls looking to hang the sitting Vice President of the United States.
