The Washington Post is the dominant daily newspaper read by federal bureaucrats and America's elite political class in Washington, D.C., with an average daily circulation that peaked at 832,232 in 1993, but had fallen to 638,800 as of 2007 and fell far further to only 139,239 in weekly printed circulation by March 2023.
In 2013 the Washington Post was acquired by Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon. That same year, Amazon also obtained a CIA contract worth $600 million, at least twice what Bezos paid for the Post. The Institute for Public Accuracy released a statement condemning the move.
