The framers were land and slave owning white supremacist elitists who, more than anything, were concerned that the mob (which is what they considered the electorate to be) could threaten their authority and control. So they devised an election system for the highest office in the republic, that would provide them with a way, at any time, of manipulating the electoral process in their favor. The framers didn't give a **** for any minority in the electorate that might end up with the short end of the stick. This is just more "tyranny of the majority" **** coming out of white christian nationalist terrorists seditionists who can no longer claim that this is their country. PEW Research which has no dog in this ideological fight has found that fifty years ago over 90% of Americans identified as "christian". Today that number is down to 64%. And since a bunch of that 64% are culturally and politically progressive christians, it's clear that this ain't your country anymore. And PEW forecasts that by 2070 2070 46% of Americans will identify as "christian."
