Didn't work for Capone. Shouldn't work for anybody who commits tax fraud. Prosecutors will go further than some bureaucrat at the IRS. If Trump reported different numbers on the same assets for tax and other financial benefits...that is criminal fraud. And one thing we know about Trump, from the sworn testimony of several members of the Trump Organization, that Donald knew everything that was going on at the Trump Organization, because he didn't trust anybody to keep him out of jail. If Federal, State, and local prosecutors ignore it for him, they should have ignored it for Willie Nelson, and Martha Stewart. Stewart did minimum security prison time for nothing but fibbing to the Federal investigators.
Why do you think Donald has avoided any sworn testimony so far? Or why he has fought the release of his tax records? Because he's smart enough to know that there are too many lies for him to keep track of, particularly when he's sitting in a chair all by himself with nothing to protect him but the 5th Amendment. Go ahead Donald...invoke the 5th Amendment, and let's see how many of your political supporters fall away like Maple leaves in November.
christ ike, Capone's taxes were the FED's last resort to try and pin anything on him...and I'm sure a lot of **** was made up on the fly just like they've been doing to OMB for the last 7 yrs..
