To me, it really isn't a morbid conclusion. The carrying capacity of the planet is what it is.
If speculation is one thing, it's emotional much of the time.
Statistically, the planet's human population is already slowing its increase and will plateau at 9.5billion or so in the 2050's.
If you were to believe actuarial charts and ****, that's where we are headed.
Lacking anything better, I choose to go with that.

and realistically, it's not gonna matter in 2050...
