When we write in cursive by hand, we are more likely to summarize, paraphrase, and select what matters instead of copying everything verbatim. That kind of processing can support deeper understanding. Since writing in a non-stop flowing manner, we can put down our thoughts in a more connected and coherent prose. If we print or type, then our mind is always breaking our thoughts as we are writing. That impedes critical thinking and memory.
The opposite for me…I concentrate so hard to make my cursive ‘legible’, I lose all train of thought…
