I would advocate Thorium Fueled Small Modular Molten Salt Reactors. Thorium is plentiful, No enrichment required, nothing weapons grade is produced.
We pursued it in the 1950's and abanoned it for U235 LPR's because it breeds PU238 that we needed to assure Mutual Destruction.
