Front-Page Placement: Out of roughly 24,000 front-page articles during the war, only 26 covered the Holocaust, and Jews were explicitly identified as the primary victims in only six of those. None of the stories ever led the paper in the prominent right-hand column.
Generic Language: Articles often referred to the victims generically as "refugees," "persecuted minorities," or "civilians" rather than highlighting the specific targeting of Jewish people. For instance, its coverage of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising omitted the word "Jew" entirely.
