If it's just one-to-one, then pick the right moment to discuss. Start off with commonalties. Move forward. It can be difficult, but there are open-minded people.
I have been very successful in teitter spaces even with'renoened academics' being the only guy defending Hitler. You just have to know a lot of information and then it isn't so hard.
